YumAURA

Terms of Use

Last updated 25 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and YumAURA. By creating an account or using YumAURA you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy describes what we do with your data. It is not a contract, and agreeing to these terms is not consent to every kind of processing. Where we need permission, we ask for it separately, as the Privacy Policy explains. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use YumAURA.

Who we are

YumAURA is run by Edison Tan (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support.yumaura@gmail.com.

Who can use YumAURA

You must be at least 13 years old. When you create an account we ask your date of birth, and we do not create one for anyone under 13. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it. The Privacy Policy explains what this means for people aged 13 to 17.

You need an account to use YumAURA. Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

No objectionable content, no abusive users

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You must not post, send or share anything that:

Food that is merely bad is not a breach of these rules.

If you see something that breaks these rules, report it: from the ••• menu on a post, a profile or a conversation, from Report at the end of a recipe, or by pressing and holding a reply or a message. You can add a few words of your own to a report. Reports are private. The person is not told who reported them.

We look at every report, usually within 24 hours. If we find that the content breaks these rules, we remove it and, where it is warranted, we also remove the person who posted it by suspending or closing their account. Looking at a report is not the same as agreeing with it. A report that is mistaken does not by itself remove anything. We may also remove content, or suspend or close an account, without a report.

Posts, replies and messages can be seen by other people you choose. These terms are not a completed UK online-safety risk assessment. Reporting and blocking are how you raise something that should not be there.

You can block anyone from the ••• menu on their profile, on a post of theirs or on your conversation with them, or by pressing and holding a reply or a message of theirs. They are not told. We are told that a person was blocked, so that we can look at that account as we would after a report. A block ends the follow both ways. Inside the app you stop seeing each other’s posts, including posts set so that anyone on YumAURA can see them, and each of you loses the copies you had saved of the other’s posts. The person you block can no longer open your profile, and neither of you hears a sound taken from the other’s video, on anybody’s post. The Yums and replies each of you left on the other’s posts are deleted, and so are the Yums each of you gave the other’s replies and the replies each of you wrote to the other’s replies, wherever they are. So are the mentions each of you made of the other. They do not come back if the block is lifted. While the block lasts, neither of you can message the other, or send into a group you are both in, though the others in that group still can. Each of you also stops seeing the other’s messages, including ones sent before the block, in a conversation or a group. Lifting the block shows them again. A link already shared can still be opened by anyone who has that link. A side of an evening they already added to their own diary stays, as the next section describes. You can see and undo blocks in Settings → Privacy → Blocked People.

If we remove your content, or suspend or close your account, and you think that was wrong, email support.yumaura@gmail.com. Where we can, someone other than the person who acted will read that. We will tell you the outcome. We will not name the person who reported you.

Your content

What you post stays yours. You keep the copyright in your photos, videos and words.

So that we can run YumAURA, you give us permission to store your content, to make smaller copies of your photos and clips, and to show it to the people you choose. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for copies in backups until those backups are replaced, except for our server’s saved answers to your requests, which can hold what you wrote for up to 90 days, and except for photos and clips already copied into someone else’s diary, as set out below. None of these exceptions transfers your copyright.

When you share a post, or a recipe you wrote, with Everyone, you also give us permission to show a card for its link wherever that link is pasted, including to people who are not on YumAURA: for a post, its leading picture, your first name, and the dish’s name or the title of a recipe you wrote that it was cooked from; for a recipe, its photo, its title, your first name and how many ingredients and steps it has. A card stops being drawn when you change who can see it or delete it, but a card a chat app has already drawn can stay in that chat, and we cannot remove it.

If you name someone on a post, they can see that post, even when it is otherwise private. Taking their name off removes that access. If you have also sent them the post in a message, the message can keep their access until you unsend it. Only name people who are happy to be named. A mention in a reply is different: it tells someone who follows you, and only if they can already see the post, and it gives nobody access to anything. Mention people only as you would name them.

If they add their side of the evening, YumAURA copies the photos and clips onto that side so the evening can live in their diary. Those copies are stored as theirs for that diary. They stay if you delete your post, take their name off, or close your account. The dish’s name, the place and the recipe notes you cooked with go onto their side too, and notes you wrote are credited to your @handle. They keep the copyright in words and photos they add themselves. They may not treat your copied photos as theirs to republish outside YumAURA. A side that never received a photo, and has nothing they wrote on it, is removed when your post or your account goes.

The Privacy Policy says what account deletion removes and what remains.

You must have the right to share what you post. A recipe or a photo you found online can still belong to the person who made it, whether or not you paid for it. Saving a link, or keeping a credit, does not give you that right. When you import a recipe, YumAURA keeps a link back to the source. That link is a credit. It is not a licence.

Chefs, paid partnerships and subscriptions

A chef is somebody our team has approved. A chef may show, on a recipe they wrote, things a brand pays them to show, labelled Ad, as the Privacy Policy describes.

If you are a chef, whenever a brand gives you money, free product or commission for a thing you show on a recipe, you must show it as a paid partnership, so that it is labelled Ad. You are the advertiser of what you show, and it must follow the UK advertising rules, the CAP Code: it must be plainly an ad, and you must claim nothing about it you cannot back. We check each thing before anyone else sees it, and we may refuse it, or take it down later. We accept kitchen tools, appliances and store-cupboard food, and not alcohol, sweets or snacks. YumAURA is not paid for these links, adds nothing to them and takes no part in any sale.

If you open one, its link leaves YumAURA for a page that is not ours. What you buy there is between you and that seller, on their terms.

A chef may also keep a recipe of theirs for subscribers. Other people can see that it is there, and only that chef’s subscribers get its ingredients and steps. Today a subscription is given by our team, free of charge. It is not sold, and it costs you nothing. It gives you the recipes that chef keeps for subscribers while it lasts, and nothing else, and we may end it at any time. If subscriptions are ever sold, these terms will say what one costs, how it renews, how to cancel it and how refunds work before you can buy one.

Cooking is at your own risk

Recipes, tips and posts on YumAURA may be written by its users, brought in from another site, or proposed as a draft for you to check. We do not check them for accuracy. An import or a draft can miss a step, misread a quantity, or miss an allergy. Nothing from a draft is saved as your recipe until you accept it, and accepting it does not mean we have checked it. Take care with allergies, food safety, cooking temperatures and equipment, and use your own judgement.

Nutrition figures. The calorie and nutrient figures on a recipe are estimates, worked out from its ingredient list against a published food table. They are not medical or dietary advice, and they can be wrong: check anything you rely on. A recipe shows other people figures only when every ingredient on it could be counted.

Our service

YumAURA is free. We are still building it, so features will change, and we may pause or stop parts of it. We work to keep it running and your content safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.

If a change to the service is significant, we will tell you in the app where we can. While your account is open you can export your data from Settings → Export Your Data. Pausing the service is not the same as deleting your account. If we suspend or close your account under these terms, you can email us to ask for a review, as the reporting section describes. We will not use a suspension to refuse an export of data we are still able to give you.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Apart from that, we are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, or for any business losses.

Ending

You can stop using YumAURA and close your account at any time in Settings → Manage Account → Delete My Account. What that deletes, and what can remain in someone else’s diary or in backups, is set out in these terms and in the Privacy Policy. If you break these terms, we may suspend or close your account.

Apple

If you downloaded YumAURA from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for YumAURA or its content.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and its date. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it applies to you. You can export your data while your account is open. If you do not agree to a significant change, you can close your account before it applies.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
